Taishin Sagawa
Sagawa is a 3rd generation kakejiku (hanging scroll) master who considers himself to be Japan’s first scroll artist. Having inherited his family’s 80 year old business and trained in the craftsmanship of scroll mounting, Sagawa, who was trained under his father, grew concerned about the declining demand for scrolls and decided to create new and high quality scrolls that are art pieces in themselves. He currently collaborates with different artists, as well as creates his own original artworks. His unique style is reflected in his beautiful usage of texture and negative space. Sagawa is also a licensed, first degree mounting craftsman and a chairman of the Japanese Scroll Association.
